Twelve Months of Miracles (Ch. 4)

On 7 December 2018, I posted chapter three of "... Miracles", promising another chapter, "to be continued" in Roseville, Michigan.

Sunday 11 March 2018, after church in Roseville, Sister Kay Cannon (Grandma) sent a text message to five of our oldest grandchildren:
“How I wish you could’ve been with us this [past] week.  What we have had in our lives, and undoubtedly taken for granted, is what so many are hungering for — the true gospel of Jesus Christ.  It’s so amazing to be with investigators and new converts, who, like sponges, are so gratefully soaking in the truth.”

This Sabbath morning, for our brief, 2018 first-quarter report, I reviewed a few text messages sent by my eternal missionary companion, Kay.  As our family was then and always will be the most important part of our mission, I began with her loving note as an introduction and summary.

As full-time missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we shared gospel truths with many people whom we grew to love in the Metro Detroit area.  It was heartwarming to see the support offered by members of our ward (local congregation) who were just as eager to help others come closer to Christ.  This sometimes involved assisting the homeless into housing and jobs, helping others into improved homes, and teaching self-reliance based on gospel principles.

One of several assignments we had was to help finish the 2017 history of the Michigan Detroit Mission.  As Sister Cannon simply texted a ward member on February 3rd, "We've been working on the mission history ... this afternoon. I think we will be up late. It's a stressful assignment. ..."
We published it on time and sent copies to Church headquarters and others involved.

At the end of most days, we were rewarded with the comforting feeling that we had done some good and helped "Light the World".

(To be continued.)
